Napoli set to make new offer for Lens defender Danso

Serie A champions Napoli are gearing up to make a fresh offer in pursuit of Lens defender Kevin Danso, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

Initial attempts to secure the services of the centre-back hit a snag as Lens’ asking price seemed too much for the Partenopei. 

However, Napoli’s determination to strengthen their backline has not wavered, and they are now ready to renew their pursuit of the defender.

Napoli planned to sign a Kim Min-Jae replacement but have yet to get any of their targets through the door, adding urgency to their efforts to sign Danso. 

With only three weeks left before the Serie A season kicks off, Napoli are keen on finalising their defensive reinforcements swiftly.

Danso appears to be top of their list and there is a growing belief he could be the perfect addition to the squad. 

The 24-year-old seems keen on the move as he has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Italian giants.

Napoli manager Rudi Garcia is reportedly a massive admirer of Danso and has pushed for the club to make the deal happen. 

Contact between Napoli and Lens has been initiated in recent days, and the Partenopei will press forward with another bid.

They want to bridge the gap between Lens’ asking price and their valuation. Napoli’s confidence is high, and they believe their improved proposal can secure Danso’s signature.

Min-jae was crucial for the Italian side as they won the league title last season, winning the Serie A Defender of the Year award, but he has moved to Bayern Munich.

Danso is an exciting replacement after his stellar performances to help Lens finish second in Ligue 1 last season, one point behind champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The Austrian defender, playing on the left side of Franck Haise’s defence, helped his side keep 15 clean sheets in 37 appearances while winning 64% of his duels. 

Danso made the Ligue 1 Team of the Year and would be a stellar signing if Napoli can sign him with their new offer.
