Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is on the verge of signing a new contract with Napoli following productive discussions between the player’s agent and the club.
According to Sky Italia, the parties are now closer than ever to finalising the renewal, with formalities underway to address the remaining details.
Osimhen’s current contract with Napoli expires in 2025. The club recently held two meetings with his agent, Roberto Calenda, to bring them closer to a new deal.
Talks during these meetings primarily revolved around the player’s salary and the inclusion of a release clause in the new contract.
Napoli wanted to insert a €200 million clause but the figure will likely be around €150m.
With the final meeting anticipated to conclude the renewal process, it is expected that last season’s Serie A top scorer will commit to at least one more season with Napoli.
Osimhen’s outstanding performances firmly established him as one of Europe’s most in-form strikers last season.
His contributions were vital in Napoli’s triumph as they clinched the Serie A title after a 33-year wait. The 24-year-old bagged 26 goals and four assists.
Osimhen caught the attention of top European and Saudi Arabian clubs, all eager to add his goalscoring prowess to their ranks.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has remained steadfast in retaining the talented forward, and the imminent contract extension will be a testament to the club’s commitment to building a competitive team.
The club’s fans will eagerly await the official announcement of Osimhen’s contract renewal. They adore him in Naples after his exploits last season.
Apart from his goals, they appreciate his hard work and overall impact on the pitch.
Retaining the Nigerian’s services will undoubtedly bolster Napoli’s aspirations in both domestic and international competitions.
