AS Monaco have set their sights on bolstering their defensive line-up, and their latest target is Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham.
According to L’Equipe, they have tabled an offer of £5 million for the 25-year-old defender.
Monaco’s interest in the English centre-back is not new. Rumours had been circulating about their intentions in January, but they did not make an official bid.
However, they now seem determined to secure Adarabioyo’s services and have proposed an offer. They hope to snap him up for a small fee as his contract expires in 2024.
Monaco’s defence was vulnerable last season, prompting them to prioritise reinforcements during the summer transfer window.
With potential departures on the horizon, signing a reliable defender could be crucial for the club’s ambitions in the upcoming season.
The reported opening offer of €5m may only be the beginning of negotiations, as Fulham could hold out for a higher fee given Adarabioyo’s performances in the Premier League.
Adarabioyo showcased his defensive prowess in 25 appearances for the Cottagers, contributing to three clean sheets while winning 64% of his duels.
His distribution skills make him an all-around asset on the pitch.
Monaco’s pursuit of Adarabioyo may not be the only defensive reinforcement they seek.
Axel Disasi has been linked with a potential move to the Premier League, while Chrislain Matsima’s departure is also on the cards.
Securing the English centre-back may be just one step towards shoring up their backline for the season ahead.
Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu is a potential target for the Monegasque club, indicating their seriousness in addressing their defensive shortcomings.
With their sights set on Adarabioyo, it remains unclear if the club’s pursuit will be successful and if other defensive additions will follow.
