Lazio at risk of losing midfield target Djibril Sow to Sevilla

Lazio’s pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow has hit a snag as Sevilla have entered the mix.

According to German outlet Sport.de, the La Liga giants have moved up the queue after the club’s sporting director Victor Orta held talks with the Swiss midfielder in Salzburg.

Recent reports suggested the Biancocelesti were nearing an agreement with the German club worth around €15 million to sign Sow.

It looks as though there is a fresh twist in the transfer saga, with the 26-year-old reportedly preferring a move to Spain.

Having been an integral part of Frankfurt’s squad since 2019, Sow has decided to seek a new challenge, with his current deal expiring next year.

Frankfurt are also open to cashing in on Sow instead of losing him for free. They are prepared for his departure, having signed Ellyes Skhiri from FC Koln this summer.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s departure has left a big void in Lazio’s squad, and they have been working around the clock to bolster their midfield.

After being linked with several players, they have settled with Sow as their top target.

However, they may have to reassess their options following Sevilla’s attempts to hijack the deal.

The Europa League winners have been inactive in the transfer window in terms of incomings, apart from the free transfer of Adria Pedrosa.

The Andalusian outfit are open to selling several first-team stars due to their financial issues.
