Paris Saint-Germain owners, Qatar Sports Investments, are considering making a move for Malaga, according to The Mirror.
Malaga have endured a tumultuous 2022/23 season and are 20th in the La Liga 2 table, six points adrift of safety with nine matches left to play.
However, their fortunes could be about to change with another takeover looking imminent 13 years on since the start of the Abdullah Al Thani era back in 2010.
This was followed by a significant period of progress on the domestic and continental fronts, but Malaga have spiralled downwards following their relegation from the top flight five years ago.
With QSI now targeting a move for the Andalusian outfit, Al Thani must deposit €9 million in court to recover 51% of the shares before selling them to Qatar, per Marca.
This could have a bearing on the future of Manchester United, with a group led by Qatari family member Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani also firmly in the hunt to purchase the Red Devils.
Following two bidding rounds, Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have made it through to the third phase of the bidding process set by the Glazers, who are looking to part ways with United amid discontent from a large section of the club’s faithful.
Anti-Glazer chants calling for the sale of English football’s most decorated club have been a common feature this season, and a new banner reading ‘Glazers Out’ was on display at United’s 2-0 win against Everton last time out.
However, the Glazers are clearly in no rush to sanction a deal as they hold out for a mammoth £6 billion asking price, which could eventually put off prospective new owners.
While United’s ownership continues to dominate the headlines, Erik ten Hag’s men are focused on ending the season as strongly as possible with success in the Europa League and FA Cup still on the cards.
