Paris Saint-Germain superstar contract rebel Kylian Mbappe has rejected an earth-shattering offer from the Saudi Pro League in favour of remaining at Parc des Princes, claims L’Equipe.
After being transfer listed by PSG, Al-Hilal made a world-record offer to take the striker off their hands in a mammoth €300 million transfer.
Their proposal was accepted by the record Ligue 1 champions, who are desperate to recoup a fee from Mbappe’s potential departure after the striker refused to extend his contract beyond 2024.
A delegation of leaders from the Saudi club travelled to the French capital to speak with Mbappe’s representatives and close the deal.
Al-Hilal offered Mbappe a one-year deal worth an earth-shattering €700m, which would also allow him to complete his dream move to Real Madrid on a free transfer next year.
However, the France international forward has refused to hold talks with the representatives from the Saudi club as he remains determined to run down his contract at Parc des Princes.
PSG think Mbappe has a pre-existing agreement with Madrid, who have a long-term interest in his services dating back to two years ago when they had a staggering €200m bid rejected.
While those reports have been denied, it is believed Mbappe wants to see out his contract with PSG to join Madrid on a free transfer next year.
However, PSG have vehemently insisted they will not let that happen and have put their all-time highest goalscorer up for grabs this summer.
Mbappe is reportedly due a €60m loyalty bonus if he remains at PSG until the start of August. It is unknown whether that was a factor in his decision to turn down Al-Hilal’s offer.
PSG excluded Mbappe from the travelling squad for their pre-season tour of Japan, with the former AS Monaco prodigy left to train with the rest of the unwanted players back in France.
The pre-season snub was supposed to serve as a warning to Mbappe that he will be sold if he doesn’t change his stance, but the player remains calm despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.
