AC Milan planning talks for Rosario Central prodigy Alejo Veliz

AC Milan have registered their interest in Rosario Central’s young sensation Alejo Veliz ahead of a potential move this summer.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia, Milan are planning to meet with the Argentine striker’s agent in Italy to proceed with the deal.

The Argentine striker will have no problem moving to the San Siro following the latest ruling by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) regarding British players.

They will no longer belong to the non-European category, meaning that new arrival Ruben Loftus-Cheek will occupy a European slot.

Italian clubs are allowed to register only two non-EU players per season. Samuel Chukwueze, whose signing is all but confirmed, will take up one spot leaving the other vacant.

Having recently snapped up Noah Okafor from RB Salzburg, Milan are looking to add another centre-forward to their ranks.

Veliz has been in red-hot form in the Argentine Primera Division this season, scoring 11 goals in 22 games.

The 19-year-old also had a fantastic run during this year’s FIFA U20 World Cup, netting three times in four games.

Milan are expected to lose Divock Origi and Ante Rebic, with the pair deemed surplus to requirements.

In the event of their departures, Veliz will add more depth to their forward options.
