Barcelona to contact PSG for transfer-listed Mbappe despite financial woes

La Liga giants Barcelona have expressed their interest in signing French superstar Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, per L’Equipe.

The possibility of Mbappe’s transfer emerged after PSG put the attacker up for sale following his refusal to renew his contract.

This decision has set the football world abuzz with speculation and potential suitors.

Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal have submitted a world-record bid for the former AS Monaco forward.

PSG permitted Al-Hilal to initiate negotiations with Mbappe, signalling their readiness to entertain offers for the player.

Undeterred by this competition, Barcelona have expressed their intention to open talks with PSG today to explore the feasibility of a deal for Mbappe.

However, analysts and experts are sceptical about the chances of the Catalan club securing the blockbuster signing.

Barcelona’s financial constraints have been evident recently, making it difficult to retain key players including Jordi Alba, Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique.

The club had to navigate through a lengthy process to overcome La Liga’s financial hurdles before they could successfully register academy graduate Gavi.

Such financial limitations cast doubt on Barcelona’s ability to fund a move for the astronomically expensive Mbappe.

Securing the services of the French forward would undoubtedly be a coup for any club.

However, the chances of the reigning La Liga champions signing him are slim to none.

The financial realities and intense competition from other suitors make this potential transfer an immensely challenging endeavour.

A move to Saudi Arabia also looks unlikely, with Mbappe reportedly eager to secure a move to Real Madrid.
