Saudi Pr League club Al-Hilal have made the first move in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain superstar contract rebel Kylian Mbappe.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says the Riyadh club have tabled an earth-shattering offer worth €300 million for the Frenchman’s signature.
They have yet to open talks with Mbappe’s representatives amid reports the player remains keen to see out his contract at Parc des Princes and leave as a free agent next year.
Al-Hilal have also not received a response from PSG, who remain convinced their star striker already has a pre-existing agreement with long-term admirers Real Madrid.
Mbappe delivered a hammer blow to Les Parisiens when he informed the club hierarchy he has no interest in triggering the extension clause in his contract that would have kept him at the Parc des Princes until 2025.
PSG have become increasingly determined to part ways with Mbappe this summer.
They were previously eager to exhaust every option available to convince their record goalscorer to extend his contract, but their efforts have yielded no fruit.
The record-time Ligue 1 champions have decided to force the striker out of the French capital this summer in a desperate attempt to recoup a substantial fee from his potential departure rather than let him walk away for free.
PSG excluded Mbappe from the travelling squad for their pre-season tour of Japan, with the former AS Monaco prodigy left to train with the rest of the unwanted players back in France.
The pre-season snub serves as a warning to Mbappe that an exit is on the cards if he doesn’t change his stance as the sour game of cat and mouse between both parties continues to drag on.
The Saudis have made the first move in what is set to be an intriguing transfer race for Mbappe, but there are understood to be several other interested clubs, especially in the Premier League.
Madrid have been touted as Mbappe’s preferred destination, but there is no indication that they will meet PSG’s outrageous asking price, with Los Blancos hoping to land the player on a free transfer.
