A Saudi Arabian club has offered Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez €240 million to join them, according to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo.
Saudi Arabian clubs have been spending eye-catching sums to attract players from Europe, and the Argentine centre-forward is the latest appearance on their transfer radar.
They have offered him a four-year deal to earn over €60mduring his stay in the Middle East. He has not accepted the proposal.
Martinez has grown into one of the best centre-forwards in Europe since moving from his native Argentina to Italy.
He netted 21 goals in 38 appearances to help his side finish third in Serie A last season. He also spearheaded them to the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana titles.
Inter reached the final of the Champions League, with the 25-year-old bagging three goals and three assists during the campaign.
The zenith of his season was when he lifted the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, even though his performances left plenty to be desired. He failed to score, missing five big chances.
However, that has not deterred his reputation as one of the best strikers in the game. Inter will be desperate to keep him, especially after naming him captain following the departure of Samir Handanovic.
Inter will be wary of losing all their striking options in one summer. They already let Edin Dzeko move to Fenerbahce.
The Nerazzurri hoped to sign Romelu Lukaku permanently from Chelsea following his loan spell. But he decided to entertain other offers, and Inter pulled out of the race to sign him.
Inter are now pursuing a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
They are also ready to listen to offers for Joaquin Correa after his disappointing spell in Milan.
There is no indication Martinez will accept the Saudi Arabian offer, but the money may tempt him.
