Lazio join race for Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi

Serie A club Lazio have reignited their interest in Chelsea outcast Callum Hudson-Odoi, claims Alfredo Pedulla.

The 22-year-old winger is poised to be part of the ongoing exodus at the club this summer after failing to impress with his performances.

The Chelsea academy graduate spent last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen but netted just one goal and one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions.

He created just two big chances, which came in the Champions League, and his performances at the BayArena failed to convince the Bundesliga club to keep him permanently.

Despite his unremarkable spell in Germany, the youngster still has plenty of admirers in England and Europe, with Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and AC Milan lining up for his services.

Lazio have now joined the race, and they could jump ahead of the queue with Maurizio Sarri keen on reuniting with the England international at the Stadio Olimpico.

Hudson-Odoi and Sarri had a conflictual relationship at Stamford Bridge, but the Englishman got his first team break under the Italian tactician in the 2018/19 campaign.

He soon became a first-team regular until an unfortunate injury derailed his development, but Sarri is reportedly eager to work with the youngster in Rome.

Hudson-Odoi has one year left on his contract with Chelsea, so they are unlikely to entertain any loan proposals. But Lazio could land the Englishman if they negotiate a buy obligation.

Fulham have already seen a bid rejected for the winger, who is valued at €15 million by Transfermarkt.

The Cottagers set their sights on Hudson-Odoi after missing out on Manor Solomon, who has joined Tottenham Hotspur.
