Paulo Dybala’s agents Jorge Antun and Carlos Novel have arrived in the Italian capital to discuss the renewal of their client with AS Roma, as per a report by Corriere dello Sport.
Dybala’s peculiar release clause in his contract continues to concern Roma. He can be signed by Serie A clubs for €20 million, while teams outside Italy can snap him up for a mere €12m.
Roma general manager Tiago Pinto will be handling the negotiations as he aims to eliminate the release clause, which expires at the end of this month.
The Giallorossi are planning to hand the Argentine winger a brand new deal with a significant pay rise after growing into one of the most important figures of the club in a quick time.
Premier League giants Chelsea have been registered with an interest. However, the feeling among the Roma camp is Dybala will remain at Stadio Olimpico beyond this summer, as highlighted by the player’s recent comments declaring his commitment to the capital club.
The 29-year-old was a cut above the rest in his debut campaign for Roma, bagging 18 goals and eight assists last season.
Dybala attained cult status at Roma, with the fans considering him one of the best players the club have ever acquired.
Giallorossi manager Jose Mourinho, who was instrumental behind Dybala’s transfer, sees the Argentine as the leader of his project heading into the next season.
Having secured the extensions of Stephan El Shaarawy and Bryan Cristante, Roma want to follow up with Dybala.
Giallorossi have signed Houssem Aouar, Evan Ndicka and Rasmus Kristensen (on loan) this summer.
They have also identified multiple transfer targets, including Renato Sanches, Gianluca Scamacca, Marcel Sabitzer and Alvaro Morata.
