Borussia Dortmund target move for Bayern star Marcel Sabitzer

Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund have set their sights on Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, according to Bild.

After a hard-fought season that saw them narrowly miss out on the title, Die Schwarzgelben have been grappling with a challenging transfer window.

Deals for Ivan Fresneda and Edson Alvarez have regrettably fallen through, leaving Dortmund with unfinished business.

They were close to signing Fresneda, but the deal has not gone through. Alvarez had some detractors in the board room and his move also collapsed.

Dortmund’s outgoing transfers have also hit an impasse, with talks to sell Soumaila Coulibaly to Burnley failing to deliver a positive outcome.

BVB are keen to get the summer transfer ball rolling and have identified Sabitzer as a potential target.

Bayern are reportedly seeking €15 million for the former RB Leipzig midfielder who spent the latter half of last season on loan at Manchester United.

The English club opted to explore alternative midfield options rather than sign him permanently, prompting his return to Bayern.

Asserting himself in a star-studded Bayern midfield has proved challenging, and added competition from Konrad Laimer will not help his cause.

Sabitzer needs regular game time, making a move away from Bayern increasingly appealing.

Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, is eager to bolster the squad before their United States tour begins on Monday.

Sabitzer’s experience and versatility will help Dortmund as they challenge for the Bundesliga title again.

AS Roma are also interested in Sabitzer, while several Saudi Pro League clubs have him on their wishlist.
