Rampant Bayern put 27 past local side Rottach-Egern in friendly showdown

Bayern Munich recorded a huge pre-season victory as Thomas Tuchel’s side obliterated local club Rottach-Egern 27-0 in a pre-season friendly.

Die Rekormeister have begun preparations for the 2023/24 campaign with a bang, putting the amateur side to the sword at their Tegernsee training camp.

The Bundesliga champions fielded two separate XIs for the contest, with the starters comprising regular first-team players including Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies and Joshua Kimmich.

Musiala and Mathys Tel stole the spotlight in the opening half, where the German heavyweights averaged a goal every two and a half minutes.

Musiala and Tel grabbed five goals a piece, while Serge Gnabry ended the first half with a hat-trick.

Sane, Upamecano, Noussair Mazraoui, Alphonso Davies and new signing Konrad Laimer were also on the scoresheet as Bayern went into the half-time interval with an eye-watering 18-goal lead.

The second half was a replica of the opening period, with Tuchel’s side picking up where they left off – this time with a completely different XI.

Sadio Mane, Marcel Sabitzer, Leon Goretzka, Kingsley Coman and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting were among those to feature.

Sabitzer joined Tel and Musiala in the five-goal club, while Ryan Gravenberch, Kingsley Coman, Mane and summer arrival Raphael Guerreiro got their names on the score sheet to earn Bayern a 27-goal victory.

Having just arrived at the Allianz Arena after completing a £43 million move from Serie A champions Napoli, Kim Min-jae watched his new teammates from the stands.

From Bayern’s perspective, the only worrisome sight from the friendly encounter was Choupo-Moting, who limped off the pitch with an injury following a collision with the opposition goalkeeper.

It could see the Bavarians speed up their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Allianz Arena this summer.
