Inter Milan have begun negotiations with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin who they have identified as an ideal replacement for Manchester United-bound Andre Onana.
However, TuttoMercatoWeb reports that both clubs remain at odds over the Ukrainian shot-stopper’s valuation, with Inter tabling a bid €6m below Shakhtar’s asking price.
Trubin has been a mainstay at Shakhtar since progressing through the youth ranks and linking up with the first team set-up in January 2020.
The 21-year-old already has plenty of top-flight experience under his belt after racking up 94 appearances for the Ukrainian giants while contributing 39 clean sheets.
Trubin’s impressive performances have seen him earn seven appearances for his country, and a move to a major European league is now on the cards, with Inter keen on securing his services.
However, the Nerazzurri must present an acceptable proposal to Shakhtar, who are playing hardball over the Trubin’s valuation despite the player’s having just one year left on his contract.
Shakhtar are demanding €18m for the young goalkeeper, while Inter have tabled an offer worth around €12m.
Talks between both clubs will continue, with Inter keen to wrap up the transfer before they jet off for their pre-season tour in Japan.
The Nerazzurri are preparing to lose Onana to Man United, with the Cameroonian goalkeeper only an official announcement away from linking up with the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
Inter have several replacements on their extensive shortlist, but Trubin is understood to be their priority target to replace the former Ajax man at San Siro Stadium.
Inter are also interested in Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer who is expected to leave Allianz Arena this summer following the return of first-choice shot-stopper Manuel Neuer.
The 34-year-old is also attracting interest from VfL Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, but it is understood that he is waiting for an offer from Inter.
