Fulham remain confident about signing Callum Hudson-Odoi despite rejected first bid

Premier League club Fulham are in talks to sign Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to the Evening Standard.

The 22-year-old has decided to leave Chelsea and will not travel with the club as they tour the United States for their pre-season preparations.

Hudson-Odoi had a disappointing 2022/23 campaign after leaving the Blues for a one-year loan spell in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen. He bagged one goal and one assist in 17 appearances for Die Werkself.

Leverkusen were unimpressed with Hudson-Odoi during the loan spell. They did not consider signing him permanently due to his paltry goal contributions and tendency to be inconspicuous during games.

His next opportunity may come in the Premier League, with Fulham eager to secure his services.

The Cottagers missed out on Manor Solomon, who joined Tottenham Hotspur, and are looking for alternatives.

Fulham are currently closing in on the signature of Brazilian winger Willian, who left the club following the expiration of his one-year contract.

Willian now looks set to rejoin Fulham despite interest from Nottingham Forest. The former Chelsea attacker will pen a new one-year deal with the club.

Despite many people predicting a relegation battle, Willian contributed five goals and five assists to help Fulham finish 10th in the Premier League last season.

Willian and Hudson-Odoi will compete for the left-wing position at the club. The latter will hope he can put a disappointing campaign behind him to fulfil the promise he showed as a youngster.

His early showings led Bayern Munich to bid twice for his services, but Chelsea rejected their advances. However, injuries have halted his development.

Hudson-Odoi must get his career back on track and set himself back on the upward trajectory he was on.
