West Ham keen to sign Manchester United’s Harry Maguire on loan this summer

West Ham United are reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire this summer.

The Telegraph report the Hammers are targeting the 30-year-old after Declan Rice completed his £105 million move to Arsenal.

West Ham prefer a loan move rather than a permanent deal at this stage.

United want a whopping £50 million fee for the centre-back who has two years remaining on his current contract.

Maguire endured a disappointing 2022-23 campaign at Old Trafford, starting only eight Premier League matches.

He struggled for game time with Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof all ahead of him in the pecking order.

But the experienced centre-back is understood to be happy in Manchester and is confident he can break back into the first team.

England manager Gareth Southgate has stuck by the former Leicester City star but his position now looks in danger ahead of the 2024 European Championship.

If his club struggles continue, he could be out of the starting XI in the prestigious competition.

To boost his international prospects, the 30-year-old could be tempted to leave the Red Devils in search of regular football.

He is still a top defender and has plenty to offer at the elite level of football.

The England international is highly rated for his excellent defensive skills, long balls and aerial duels.

He also boasts plenty of experience playing in the Premier League, having made over 200 top-flight appearances.
