Manchester City are reportedly demanding a huge €80 million transfer fee for Barcelona target Bernardo Silva.
The 28-year-old joined the Citizens in 2017 from Monaco and has enjoyed a very successful spell at the English club.
His six-year stint in Manchester has seen him lift five Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy.
However, the Portugal international hinted last month that he wants to embark on a new challenge with another club.
He has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer, while Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Pro League clubs have also been credited with an interest.
According to reputed journalist Luis Rojo, Man City want a whopping €80m to let Silva leave.
He played an instrumental role in helping Pep Guardiola’s side complete the European treble last season.
He made 55 appearances across all competitions during the 2022-23 campaign, netting seven goals and eight assists.
City’s enormous price tag means Barcelona have a slim chance of signing the attacking midfielder.
The Catalans are facing an economic crisis and cannot afford to spend a huge amount on just one player.
Their lack of funds saw them missing out on Lionel Messi, who has now completed his move to Inter Miami.
However, they have signed the former Citizens star Ilkay Gundogan and Athletic Club’s Inigo Martinez on free transfers this summer.
More reinforcements are expected as manager Xavi Hernandez aims to defend their La Liga crown and return to form in Europe.
