Rasmus Kristensen completes Roma medical

Rasmus Kristensen underwent his medical checks at Roma on Friday ahead of his loan arrival from Leeds United.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio states the 26-year-old passed his fitness tests and is now close to becoming the Giallorossi’s fourth summer signing.

Only a year after leaving Red Bull Salzburg for Elland Road, the Denmark international is calling time on his experience in England to embark on a new career in Serie A under Jose Mourinho.

Although he will initially join Roma on a season-long loan, Leeds have forced the inclusion of a €10 million buy option, hoping to recoup the figure they spent last summer.

Kristensen enjoyed a solid first season in the Premier League, bagging three goals and one assist in 26 league appearances for the Yorkshire outfit.

However, he couldn’t prevent the Whites from returning to the Championship after a two-year stint in the top flight.

After relinquishing their elite status, Leeds are in the midst of a mass player exodus.

Diego Llorente was one of the first players to jump ship as he compelled Leeds to grant him another loan spell at Roma after spending the second half of last season at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Italians have also welcomed Houssem Aouar and Evan Ndicka on Bosman deals as part of Mourinho’s effort to generate enough talent to make a Serie A top-four push next term.

Kristensen’s impending arrival should provide the Portuguese manager with another decent right-back option after pulling off an emergency signing of Zeki Celik last summer.

Roma hoped to land the Dane 12 months ago, but Leeds pipped them to his signature as they couldn’t match the English club’s offer.

However, only one year later, they are all but set to complete the acquisition of Kristensen on favourable terms.
