Atletico Madrid open to Joao Felix loan amid limited transfer interest

Atletico Madrid will consider another loan departure for out-of-favour forward Joao Felix due to a lack of substantial transfer proposals.

Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo claims that the La Liga giants are desperate to offload the former Chelsea loanee by any means necessary.

Atletico want the Portuguese forward off their books before Diego Simeone and his squad jet out for their pre-season tour of South Korea and the United States.

Felix endured a mixed loan spell with Chelsea in the second half of last season, contributing four goals in 16 Premier League appearances.

However, Chelsea decided against making his loan deal permanent, with Mauricio Pochettino reluctant to work with the Atletico man next season.

There are not many European heavyweights lining up to lure Felix away from the Civitas Metropolitano this summer due to Atletico’s outrageous asking price.

The Spanish giants forked out a mammoth €127 million to sign the Portuguese forward from Benfica in 2019, smashing their transfer record in the process.

After falling out with Simeone last season, Atletico are eager to offload Felix, but not without recouping at least €100m from his departure.

Their valuation has put off several potential suitors who have since looked elsewhere for reinforcements, but Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have registered an interest in Felix.

Luis Enrique wants to work with the versatile 22-year-old attacker at the Parc des Princes next season, but PSG have bigger fish to fry before opening talks for Felix.

The record Ligue 1 champions are currently embroiled in a contract tussle with Kylian Mbappe, who continues to edge closer to an exit than an extended deal.

PSG are also keen to offload Neymar, but Enrique wants to give the Brazilian a clean slate owing to their hugely successful time together at Barcelona.

With Mbappe and Neymar still on PSG’s books, the French giants must part ways with at least one of them before sanctioning a big-money move for Felix.
