Aston Villa open to offers for Lucas Digne, Napoli interested

Premier League club Aston Villa will listen to offers for left-back Lucas Digne, according to the Daily Mail.

Digne is no longer the first-choice left-back following the arrival of Alex Moreno from Real Betis in January.

The Villains spent £25 million to sign the 29-year-old from Everton in January 2022, and he signed a lucrative deal.

However, after Moreno took his starting position, he is considering a move away from the club for playing time, and he could find it in Italy.

New Napoli manager Rudi Garcia is a massive admirer of Digne. Garcia signed him for AS Roma on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for the 2015/16 season.

If Mario Rui leaves Napoli this summer, the Partenopei will likely target Digne. However, they would need the Frenchman to lower his wages considerably.

Villa have been active in the summer transfer window. They have signed midfielder Youri Tielemans on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City.

They have also added centre-back Pau Torres for £33 million. He joined from Villarreal and was a top defensive target for Emery.

Villa are eyeing a swoop for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Moussa Diaby. The Bundesliga club rejected Villa’s first bid for the Frenchman and will wait for a new offer.

The Midlands club first tried to sign him when they sold Jack Grealish to Manchester City two years ago.

Diaby is on their radar again this summer, and with little competition from Europe’s top clubs, Villa may have a chance to sign him.
