Donnarumma agent shuts down PSG exit speculation

Donnarumma agent shuts down PSG exit speculation

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent has shut down speculation linking his client with a move away from the club this summer.

There have been growing reports from France and Italy claiming the former AC Milan shot-stopper could be looking for a way out of Parc des Princes amid speculation that Luis Enrique is not a fan.

Enrique, who was recently announced as the new head coach of PSG, favours a possession-based system of football that relies heavily on the goalkeeper being the first phase of build-up play.

His tactics require the goalkeeper to be calm, confident and quick on their feet while possessing an extensive passing range.

While Donnarumma possesses most of those qualities, his on-the-ball ability has come under close scrutiny over the years, leading to rumours that Enrique could request a new goalkeeper to challenge the Italian.

However, Enzo Raiola has dismissed the idea while reiterating his client is happy in the French capital.

“It is pure madness,” Raiola told Sport Mediaset. “Luis Enrique adores Gigio and considers him essential to take PSG to the top of European football.

“The managers themselves, led by sporting director [Luis] Campos, smiled when I told them the tone of some of the articles that had been published in Italy.”

Donnarumma joined PSG on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2021, deposing Keylor Navas as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, and he has held on to his position since.

There have been no reports of the record Ligue 1 champions scouring the market for a new goalkeeper which suggests Enrique is happy to carry on with the Italian.

PSG have more pressing concerns regarding Kylian Mbappe, who continues to edge closer to an exit than an extended contract.

The club are reportedly pulling out all the stops to ensure their all-time highest goalscorer remains at Parc des Princes beyond this summer.
