Al-Ahli prepare £30m bid to Man City for Mahrez

Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli will submit a £30 million bid to Manchester City for attacker Riyad Mahrez, according to The Athletic

They have already made a proposal to the Algerian winger, who has two years left on his deal with City.

A £25 million per year salary has been proposed, and will likely be on a three-year contract in line with other moves for European-based players.

Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Edouard Mendy, N’Golo Kante, Karim Benzema and Roberto Firmino are among the players who have moved to the Middle East.

Mahrez could be the next to follow after five years in Manchester. He has played 236 games for the Cityzens, bagging 78 goals and 59 assists.

The 32-year-old joined the club from Leicester City after helping the Foxes seal promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.

Mahrez played a vital role as Leicester won the 2015/16 Premier League title. He moved to City ahead of the 2018/19 season for £60 million, becoming the most expensive African footballer.

He has helped Pep Guardiola’s side win four Premier League titles, three League Cups and two FA Cups. They also won the Champions League this season to complete the treble.

Mahrez has not yet decided on his future. He still has two years on his contract at the Etihad Stadium and may want to see it out. City are not so keen on selling either.

However, things could change when the official offers start rolling in.
