Barcelona have received an offer for attacker Raphinha from the Saudi Pro League, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Saudi Arabians showed interest in the Brazil international a few weeks ago, but they have now made a concrete offer for the player.
Barcelona pipped Chelsea and Arsenal to the signing of Raphinha last year. They paid Leeds United around €57 million to secure his services.
His first season in Spain was topsy-turvy. He did not seem to click with his teammates, and his penchant for losing the ball does not fit Barcelona’s philosophy.
However, the 26-year-old bagged nine goals and nine assists in all competitions. His progressive passing and carrying numbers were stellar.
Barca boss Xavi Hernandez wants to keep him at the club, while Raphinha is not pushing for a move.
However, a massive offer from the Middle East could turn his head and force him to reconsider his stance.
The Saudi Pro League is trying to attract attention by making massive signings. They have secured several stars from Europe and want more big names.
Saudi Arabia’s football clubs have money to make blockbuster signings thanks to the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also owns Premier League club Newcastle United.
PIF has assumed control of Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, and Al-Nassr. While many people have criticised their moves, they are not moving without tact.
They are reportedly close to hiring former Chelsea sporting director Michael Emenalo to oversee their sporting vision.
Besides Raphinha, Saudi Pro League clubs are eyeing a move for his Barca teammate Franck Kessie.
The Ivory Coast midfielder is under contract until 2026 and also has offers from Serie A and Galatasaray.
