Marseille agree personal terms with Sheffield United forward Iliman Ndiaye

Marseille are inching closer towards signing summer target Iliman Ndiaye after reaching an agreement on personal terms with the Sheffield United star, according to Foot Mercato.

The Senegalese forward has given the green light to Marseille over a five-year deal and the French club will proceed with talks to finalise the transfer fee.

Les Minots have been tracking Ndiaye all summer and have seemingly beaten English clubs Everton and Tottenham Hotspur to secure his signing.

The 23-year-old previously spent a few years of his youth career at Marseille and recently spoke about his admiration for the French giants.

The Blades offered Ndiaye a new contract on improved terms – with his current deal expiring in 12 months – after he played a pivotal role in the club’s promotion to the English top flight, netting 14 goals and 12 assists in the Championship last season.

However, the Senegalese international has rejected the advances of the Blades in favour of a move to Marseille, where he has a chance to play in the Champions League.

Ndiaye could be viewed as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, whose contract with Marseille expired on June 30. He hasn’t responded to the renewal offer yet.

The Ligue 1 giants are waiting for the Chilean forward’s decision, but the possibilities of an exit are high amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

Marseille’s new manager Marcelino hand-picked Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder as a potential target, while Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun is also high on the club’s wishlist.

Les Minots have signed Geoffrey Kondogbia from Atletico Madrid this summer and made Amine Harit’s loan deal permanent from Schalke.
