Brighton captain Lewis Dunk signs new three-year contract

Brighton & Hove Albion captain Lewis Dunk has signed a new three-year contract, according to Fabrizio Romano

The central defender previously penned a five-year deal in 2020 but has now agreed fresh terms with the Seagulls.

The latest contract has tied the 31-year-old to the club until June 2026.

Dunk was called up for England’s 2024 European Championship qualifiers in June following his impressive performances last season.

But an injury problem prevented him from being part of Gareth Southgate’s squad against North Macedonia and Malta.

Despite his impressive displays in the Premier League, the experienced centre-back has made only one international appearance against the United States in 2018.

Dunk is an academy graduate of Brighton having joined the club in 2003.

Since earning his competitive debut in 2010, he has made over 400 appearances for the club.

The 31-year-old was part of the squad that won the League One title in 2010-11.

He also played a crucial role in helping the Seagulls earn Premier League promotion in 2017.

The England international has made over 200 appearances in the Premier League, bagging 13 goals and five assists.

He played a key role in helping Brighton finish sixth last season to a place in the Europa League.

The defender started 36 matches in the top flight, averaging 2.3 clearances, 0.8 tackles and 0.9 interceptions.

He also boasted 89.1 passes per game with over 90 percent passing accuracy (as per WhoScored).
