Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bono is open to a summer departure after growing unsettled at the club, according to Marca.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper has been vital to Sevilla’s success in recent years after arriving from Girona three years ago.
Bono has racked up 140 appearances for Sevilla, keeping 58 clean sheets in that time. He has also won two Europa League titles, playing a crucial part in both triumphs.
However, the highly rated shot-stopper could call time on his career at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium following a rift with Sevilla manager Jose Luis Mendilibar.
Having previously established himself as the number one goalkeeper at the club, the Morocco international has been forced to share his spot with his deputy Marko Dmitrovic since Mendilibar arrived.
The 31-year-old has been Bono’s understudy since arriving from Eibar on a free transfer in 2021 but was handed ample playing time by Mendilibar last season.
Although the decision did not sit well with Bono, Dmitrovic made his mark when given a chance, keeping 14 clean sheets in 25 appearances across all competitions.
Bono reportedly feels threatened by Dmitrovic’s recent rise to prominence and is now open to leaving the Europa League champions at the earliest opportunity.
Despite being one of the most important players in the squad, Sevilla will not stand in Bono’s way if a suitable proposal arrives, with the club desperate to raise funds to bolster their finances.
Winning the Europa League title, which earned them an automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League, appears to have done little to help Sevilla with their financial turmoil.
Los Nervionenses president Pepe Castro revealed the club has a standing debt worth €90 million, which puts them in a difficult position this summer.
Sevilla need to reinforce their squad to compete on all fronts next season, but they need to generate funds through player sales and have slapped a €20m asking price on Bono.
