Roma deal for Bayern midfielder Sabitzer hits stumbling block

Serie A giants AS Roma are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer this summer.

However, Roma’s attempts to secure Sabitzer’s services have encountered a stumbling block, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Sabitzer is determined to fight for his place at Bayern Munich and impress manager Thomas Tuchel following his loan spell at Manchester United.

During his time at Old Trafford, the Austrian international netted three goals, two of which came in the Europa League. His season was cut short due to a meniscus injury.

The Bundesliga champions want to sell Sabitzer permanently, but Roma do not have the funds for expensive transfers.

They have signed Houssem Aouar and Evan Ndicka on free transfers this summer, highlighting the market they are operating in.

With two years remaining on his contract, the German giants have made it clear that they have no intention of loaning out Sabitzer again.

This stance has presented a predicament for Roma, leaving them with the task of devising an approach that satisfies both parties.

Roma want to sign Sabitzer to bolster their midfield options and add creativity to their ranks.

The Austrian’s technical prowess, vision and goalscoring ability make him an enticing prospect for the Italian club.

Negotiations between Roma and Bayern will be interesting as both clubs seek a favourable resolution.

Roma also have Scott McTominay and Renato Sanches on their radar.

McTominay could leave United this summer as the club seeks to raise funds, while Sanches wants a new challenge after struggling at Paris Saint-Germain.
