Wolves interested in Juventus outcast Arthur Melo

Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering a move for Juventus outcast Arthur Melo, according to the Daily Mail.

Juventus are extremely keen to offload the Brazilian midfielder following a horrible Premier League loan spell with Liverpool last season.

Jurgen Klopp was desperate to bolster his ranks in the middle of the park last term, but a lack of options led him to sanction a move for Arthur on a one-year loan deal.

However, the former Barcelona man failed to make a single appearance in the Premier League, featuring more for Liverpool’s youth team than in the English top flight due to recurring injury problems.

Having returned to the Allianz Stadium, the midfielder is not in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans for the coming season, and Juventus are desperate to get him off their books permanently.

Wolves are considering extending an olive branch to Arthur and could offer him a second chance to prove his worth in the Premier League following a disappointing spell at Anfield.

However, they will face competition from the free-spending Saudi Pro League amid reports that the 26-year-old already has a lucrative offer from the Gulf nation.

Wolves are currently in the market looking to replace Ruben Neves, who completed a £47 million move to Al-Hilal last month, and consider Arthur as a cut-price replacement for the Portuguese midfielder.

They need to strengthen in midfield, but with a limited budget and Financial Fair Play concerns, the Midlands club must make shrewd signings this summer.

There were reports that they could lose manager Julen Lopetegui who only joined in November and steered the club away from relegation trouble due to their financial limitations.

However, they have raised enough funds through player sales to bolster their economic situation, and Arthur has popped up on their radar.

Juventus are leaning towards an outright sale, but the cash-strapped Italian giants may sanction another loan with an obligation to buy.
