Newcastle United are open to parting ways with Allan Saint-Maximin this summer amid reported interest from several Saudi Pro League clubs.
The Telegraph claims clubs in Saudi Arabia and across Europe have been in contact with the player’s representatives since the end of last season.
Saint-Maximin has three years left on his contract but has been repeatedly linked with a move away from St James’ Park since Anthony Gordon arrived from Everton in January.
A combination of recurring injuries and poor form saw the Frenchman settle for a reduced role last season, starting just 12 of his 26 Premier League appearances.
Saint-Maximin had previously expressed a desire to remain at Newcastle and fight for a starting berth, but it is understood he has been offered to several clubs through intermediaries.
Manager Eddie Howe has maintained he would like to keep Saint-Maximin, but doubts have emerged as to whether the player remains committed to the club after struggling for game time last term.
Newcastle value Saint-Maximin at £40 million, but that would not pose a problem for the free-spending Saudi Arabian clubs.
A bid from the Middle East could raise eyebrows, considering the country’s Public Investment Fund owns a controlling stake in Newcastle.
Saint-Maximin’s potential departure would help Newcastle fund a move for Leicester City forward Harvey Barnes, who has emerged as a primary target for the Magpies.
The Magpies missed out on James Maddison, who opted to join Tottenham Hotspur, but they are determined to land Barnes, who would be a like-for-like replacement for Saint-Maximin.
However, they will also face competition for the Englishman from Premier League counterparts Aston Villa and West Ham United, who are also interested in his signature.
Newcastle are leading the race to sign Barnes, with the player also pushing for the transfer.
They have already agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old winger but are still in talks with Leicester over a transfer fee.
