Leeds in July: Three pre-season friendlies as Farke prepares for promotion bid

Leeds United achieved a miracle when they secured Premier League survival on the final day of the 2021-22 season. 

But they couldn’t perform the same magic last term, finishing 19th in the table to drop into the Championship.

Leeds lost Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips last summer but signed several new players during a busy transfer window for the club. 

Jesse Marsch led them to an impressive start, but their form dropped off as the season progressed. 

The American manager may have been sacked earlier than February if he hadn’t inspired victories over Liverpool and Bournemouth. 

But after Marsch’s departure, Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce failed to keep the Yorkshire outfit in the Premier League. 

Leeds United have now appointed Daniel Farke as their new manager as they prepare for life in the Championship. 

The German boss will have to add several new recruits in the 2023 English transfer window, with the Peacocks expected to lose many of their stars. 

Leeds recently confirmed their summer pre-season friendlies ahead of the 2023-24 season.

  • July 12, 2023: Leeds vs Manchester United, Ullevaal Stadium, Oslo
  • July 22, 2023: Leeds vs AS Monaco, LNER Community Stadium, York
  • July 30, 2023: Hearts vs Leeds, Tynecastle, Edinburgh
