Roma and Juventus to go head-to-head for Marko Arnautovic

Bologna veteran Marko Arnautovic could leave Renato Dall’Ara this summer to join Serie A giants Roma.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, his agent has rolled up his sleeves to take the 34-year-old marksman to the Giallorossi while waiting for a proposal from Juventus.

The Austria international returned to Italy in 2021 after more than ten years of wandering between Germany, England and China, having played for Inter Milan in 2009/10.

Following a two-year stint at Shanghai Port, the robust striker signed for Bologna two years ago.

He has since become one of the most influential figures at the club, tallying 25 goals and two assists in 57 competitive appearances for the Rossoblu.

Recurring injury problems curtailed his momentum last season, but Arnautovic still managed to hit a ten-goal landmark in Serie A, confirming he can still play at the highest level.

But after falling out of favour with head coach Thiago Motta due to his flamboyant personality, the Austrian is on the lookout for a new Serie A destination.

Despite being courted by AC Milan during Paolo Maldini’s reign, that hypothesis is no longer on the table after the former Rossoneri captain left the club earlier this summer.

Roma could be Arnautovic’s next landing spot as Jose Mourinho searches for a new out-and-out striker to increase his firepower in light of Tammy Abraham’s knee injury.

Since Mourinho doesn’t see Andrea Belotti as a reliable first-choice option, he’s desperate to add a new name to his attacking department. And Arnautovic could be a decent short-term solution.

The player’s entourage has already sounded out a move to the Stadio Olimpico but has yet to receive a response, with Roma currently focused on completing other deals.

Juventus could seize the opportunity as they still don’t know what to do with Dusan Vlahovic, who has failed to live up to expectations since arriving from Fiorentina in January 2022.

Vlahovic has several top clubs keeping close tabs on him, with the Bianconeri ready to listen to offers for their out-of-sorts forward, whose potential sale could open up space for Arnautovic.
