Jordi Alba to reunite with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami

Former Barcelona star Jordi Alba is set to reunite with Lionel Messi at Major League Soccer club Inter Miami on Friday, according to the Miami Herald.

Alba left the Catalans earlier this month after the expiration of his contract at Camp Nou.

The 34-year-old played 11 seasons at the Spanish club, making over 450 senior appearances and lifting six La Liga titles and one Champions League trophy.

But Barca, who are currently dealing with financial issues, decided not to renew his contract and allowed him to leave as a free agent.

The Spaniard also had offers from Saudi Arabian clubs but opted to join Miami to play alongside his former teammates Messi and Sergio Busquets

Miami have endured a disappointing 2023 campaign, with the team sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

Franco Negri, who arrived at the DRV PNK Stadium in January, has been their first-choice left-back.

But the Argentine suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury earlier this month that ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Inter are currently in dire need of a left back, and that’s why they are looking to wrap up a deal for Alba as soon as possible.

The 34-year-old boasts plenty of experience playing at the top level of football, and his arrival will be a massive boost for Gerardo Martino’s side.
