Tottenham Hotspur are in discussions with Croatian star Ivan Perisic to terminate his contract, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Perisic will reportedly rejoin Hajduk Split, his boyhood club and the one he has supported for years.
The 34-year-old joined Spurs during last summer’s transfer window on a free transfer from Inter Milan under Antonio Conte.
The Italian manager managed him at Inter Milan and brought him to London.
However, since Conte departed from Tottenham, Perisic’s future with Spurs has become uncertain.
He signed a two-year deal with Tottenham but will not see out the second year of the contract.
There were links to Fenerbahce, and they were reportedly waiting for him to terminate his contract with Spurs before swooping.
Inter Milan wanted to bring him back, but the Split-born man has decided to return home.
New Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is the primary reason the versatile player is leaving the club.
The Australian manager prefers to use a 4-3-3 formation, and there is no place for Perisic in that set-up.
Spurs have Destiny Udogie joining them this summer, and he will take the left-back spot. It is unclear if the club will sign another option to provide competition.
Perisic made 44 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions last season, bagging one goal and 12 assists.
Apart from the Croatian international, midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is another player who could follow him through the exit door.
The 27-year-old is reportedly a target for Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone who wants to bolster his midfield.
Los Rojiblancos have opened talks with Spurs for the Danish international.
Spurs have been active in the transfer market and have done some exciting business already.
They have signed playmaker James Maddison from Leicester City, beating Newcastle United to his signature.
They have also signed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli to replace Hugo Lloris.
