Manchester United have submitted a second bid to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils have already seen an opening bid worth €45 million for the Cameroonian goalkeeper dismissed by Inter, but they remain determined to land their primary target.
Man United have returned with a fresh proposal that would see Inter pocket €50m for the former Ajax man. The offer comprises an initial €45m plus €5m in add-ons.
While the Premier League giants are optimistic they can lure Onana away from the Guiseppe Meazza this summer, their new proposal still falls below Inter’s original asking price.
The Nerazzurri value Onana at €60m and have refused to budge on their asking price, given that the 27-year-old has four years left on his current contract.
They are under no immediate pressure to sell, but the player reportedly wants to join the Red Devils despite only arriving from Dutch giants Ajax last summer.
Onana is jumping at the chance to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, having worked with the Dutch tactician in Amsterdam, and Inter will not stand in his way.
However, Man United may have to raise their bid again to get the Italian giants to sanction Onana’s departure. It is understood that both clubs could find common ground for a fee of around €55m.
Having completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, Man United are throwing their weight at making Onana their second acquisition in the Premier League transfer window.
The Red Devils are keen to sort out the goalkeeping crisis at the club, with long-serving number-one shot-stopper David De Gea now a free agent after a contract dispute with the English giants.
Inter already have a couple of ideas on how to replace the Premier League-bound Onana, with the Champions League finalists eyeing Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin as a potential replacement.
