Sergej Milinkovic-Savic set for Lazio renewal as transfer interest dries up

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could stay at the club beyond the summer despite heavy exit speculation.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia, the Biancocelesti are confident of extending the Serbian’s contract, which expires in 2024, due to the lack of substantial offers.

Both Milan clubs and Juventus are credited as the potential suitors for the Serbian, but he appears to be no longer a priority target for them.

Lazio’s €40 million asking price has also been a sticking point, with none of the Serie A clubs in a great financial position to afford it.

Inter have targeted Davide Frattesi following Marcelo Brozovic’s departure to Al Nassr.

The Nerazzurri have reportedly reached an agreement with Sassuolo for Frattesi in a deal worth €33 million plus €5m in bonuses.

Milan have already made considerable investments in the midfield, signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea. They are also closing in on a deal for AZ Alkmaar’s Tijjani Reijnders.

Juventus have been admirers of Milinkovic-Savic for a long time, but they haven’t made significant efforts to sign him.

Midfield reinforcements are among the priorities for the Old Lady this summer, with Paul Pogba struggling to find his form and Weston McKennie linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund.

At Lazio, Luis Alberto and Pedro are expected to put pen to paper on new deals.

The Biancocelesti are also working on attacking reinforcements this summer, with Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha reportedly closing in on a move to the Italian capital.
