Lazio close in on Wilfried Zaha

Serie A club Lazio are close to signing Wilfried Zaha following his departure from Crystal Palace as a free agent.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Zaha is eager to embark on a new chapter in his career away from England following the expiration of his contract.

The 30-year-old officially became a free agent on July 1. Palace want to extend his contract, but Zaha wants a new experience abroad.

Zaha has made 458 appearances across two stints at Palace, bagging 90 goals and 76 assists. He netted seven goals and two assists in 27 Premier League matches last season.

Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri has given his approval to proceed with the deal.

The Biancocelesti are reportedly confident they will clinch the signing ahead of other interested parties, such as Al-Nassr and Fenerbahce.

Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also shown interest in securing his services, but a move to Lazio is on the cards.

Zaha’s representatives recently held discussions with Lazio officials to finalise personal terms and salary negotiations.

The Ivorian forward wants a figure of around €10 million per year. He is a free agent and can demand a high salary.

Zaha has spent most of his career with Palace, solidifying his status as one of their greatest players. He had brief spells with Manchester United and Cardiff City.

He has decided to move on from Selhurst Park and a new chapter beckons for the highly sought-after forward.
