AC Milan weighing up move for Man United target Jeremie Frimpong

AC Milan are considering launching a bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to the Daily Mail.

Frimpong was in sensational form last season, displaying his prolific credentials as he racked up nine goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen.

His extraordinary numbers have caught the eye of several clubs across Europe, and it is no surprise that suitors have begun making moves to snap him up.

Manchester United are admirers of the 22-year-old. Bayern Munich and Barcelona have also been linked to the player, who is versatile enough to do a job when deployed higher up the pitch.

However, the Red Devils have yet to tender an official proposal to capture his signature as they are currently focused on improving other core areas of their squad.

Buoyed by their recent windfall, Serie A giants Milan are eyeing up a move for the impressive Dutchman who is yet to be capped by his country.

Milan have raked in a mammoth €70 million from the departure of Italian playmaker Sandro Tonali who completed a move to Premier League club Newcastle United.

The Rossoneri are looking to reinvest that cash into reinforcing their squad following a massively below-par Scudetto title defence last season.

They have already parted ways with €15m to recruit Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea, while a couple of other players remain on their extensive radar.

Frimpong is the latest talent linked with a move to Serie A, but it remains to be seen if the Italian giants are willing to fork out a significant chunk of their budget to lure the youngster away from Germany this summer.

The former Manchester City youngster is under contract with Leverkusen until 2025, so the club can gamble on retaining his services for at least one more season.

With Davide Calabria and Pierre Kalulu the only recognised right-backs at Milan, they could do with strengthening that position this summer.
