AC Milan table €19m bid for midfield target Tijjani Reijnders, close to securing a deal

AC Milan are close to securing a deal for AZ Alkmaar star Tijjani Reijnders after submitting an offer worth €19 million, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Rossoneri have received the green light from the Dutch midfielder and are now in advanced talks with the Eredivisie outfit to get the deal over the line.

West Ham United were also interested in the Reijnders, but he only wanted to move to the San Siro.

The 24-year-old emerged as the top midfield target for the Italian giants in the wake of Sandro Tonali’s move to Newcastle United in a deal worth €70 million.

Milan have made swift progress in the negotiations and are on the verge of adding Reijnders to their midfield ranks following the arrival of Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea.

Midfield reinforcements have become a priority for Stefano Pioli, with Tonali bidding farewell and Ismael Bennacer being sidelined with a long-term injury.

Reijnders had an impressive 2022/23 season, bagging seven goals and 12 assists in all competitions.

He was instrumental in AZ reaching the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League and finishing fourth in the Eredivisie.

A technically astute midfielder with a great attacking output, the Netherlands international will be a much-needed upgrade for Milan.

Milan are still keeping tabs on Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi but face tough competition from arch-rivals Inter Milan for his signature.

The Nerazzurri reached a verbal agreement with Frattesi earlier and are looking to use the proceeds from the sale of Marcelo Brozovic to Al-Nassr to land the Italian midfielder.

Milan are also working on a deal to sign Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic, who is keen on joining the Serie A giants.
