Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has revealed the possibility of continuing at the Diego Maradona Stadium amid intense speculation linking him with an exit.
The Nigerian has grown into one of the best strikers in Europe following a stellar 2022/23 campaign, where he topped the Serie A’s scorers list and helped Napoli win their first Scudetto in 33 years.
Osimhen is one of the most sought-after players in Europe, with Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich eager to sign him.
However, recent reports suggest that the Partenopei are unwilling to sell Osimhen, having prepared to lose another prized asset in Kim Min-jae – who is set to join Bayern Munich.
While several clubs are ready to break the bank for him, Osimhen has stated that he is proud of his achievements at Napoli and is eagerly waiting for the next season with the Italian giants.
“I’m so proud that I am actually a Scudetto winner – for me, it’s a huge one,” Osimhen told Soccernet.ng.
“Whatsoever honour that comes after this, I will welcome it. And I am really working hard to make sure, and now I am addicted to trophies because now the Scudetto is my first trophy as a pro.
“Now I’m addicted, and I can’t wait for the new season to come.”
The 24-year-old has also become a cult hero at Napoli, with fans of all ages showing incredible admiration towards the Nigerian centre-forward.
Osimhen added that he hasn’t received such support before, calling Naples the best ever place in his life.
“I have never seen a city crazier about football like the way the Neapolitans are,” the former Lille striker added.
“They show all their players love. And wherever I go to, I am being respected. Kids love me, a lot of people admire me, they idolise me by putting on the replica of my mask.
“It shows the hard work I have given to them and what I mean to them. And for me, there’s no better place to be than this place.”
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has placed a price tag worth €180 million for Osimhen. He wants his team to sustain their progress and sees Osimhen as integral to it.
Osimhen will continue to remain in demand throughout this summer, and it will be interesting to see whether interested clubs can test Napoli’s resolve.
