Tottenham in July: Four pre-season fixtures as Postecoglou looks to revive club’s fortunes

Tottenham endured an awful 2022-23 season as they missed out on any form of European football for the first time in over a decade.

They were expected to do well in the top-flight under manager Antonio Conte after a good summer transfer window saw them signing Richarlison, Cristian Romero and Yves Bissouma.

But they were highly inconsistent throughout the campaign, and Conte ultimately left Spurs in March in acrimonious circumstances.

The Italian boss hit out at his players in an extraordinary post-match rant after a poor showing at Southampton. The club announced they had parted company with the 53-year-old a few days later.

Cristian Stellani was put in interim charge, but a miserable run of form prompted the hierarchy to replace him with Ryan Mason.

However, he failed to revive the club’s fortunes as they finished eighth in the English top flight.

Tottenham have now appointed Ange Postecoglou, who was successful in his previous job at Celtic.

However, question marks remain on whether he can replicate that success in England

Postecoglou faces many challenges at Tottenham, and one of the biggest is star striker Harry Kane’s future at the club.

The 29-year-old wants to leave Spurs in the current Premier League transfer window, but losing the England international will be a big blow for them.
