Juventus ready to part ways with Wojciech Szczesny

Serie A giants Juventus are prepared to listen to offers for number one goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, according to Calciomercato.

Szczesny has been a pivotal part of the Bianconeri squad over the years, but the club are in a precarious position with their finances and desperately need to generate funds through player sales.

The Poland international shot-stopper set Juventus back around €18 million when he first arrived on the shores of Turin from Arsenal in 2017.

He wasted no time establishing himself as a commanding influence in the team and has since made over 200 appearances in a Bianconeri shirt while keeping an impressive 88 clean sheets.

His influence in the dressing room is second to none, but Juventus’ economic turmoil means their hands are tied, and they are willing to part ways with the former AS Roma man to help lift the burden on their dwindling finances.

The experienced goalkeeper has two years left on his current contract that allows him to pocket €6.5m a year in wages, but Juventus are keen to get him off their books this summer.

Juventus value Szczesny at €15m – although there are no takers yet. However, the club have insisted they will not turn down a proposal in the region of their asking price.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly against the plan to sell the Polish goalie, but the club are convinced that his departure will boost their struggling finances.

The Bianconeri have several fringe players they are looking to move on this summer, including Alex Sandro, Arthur Melo, Weston McKennie and Denis Zakaria.

However, apart from Zakaria who could return to the Premier League amid interest from West Ham United, the rest of those players are struggling to attract suitors following a troubling campaign.

Leonardo Bonucci is another player linked with a summer exit, but the Bianconeri captain is keen to see out his contract, which is set to expire next year.
