Borussia Dortmund target Real Madrid midfielder Sergio Arribas

Real Madrid’s Sergio Arribas could be on the verge of a loan move to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, according to Bild

During negotiations for Jude Bellingham, the Spanish club reportedly discussed the possibility of loaning Arribas to Dortmund for two years.

The proposed loan agreement includes a unique clause that would reduce the loan fee based on the youngster’s playing time.

However, it seems that Eintracht Frankfurt are also keen on signing the 21-year-old midfielder.

Dortmund have experienced a bumpy ride in their squad rebuilding efforts this summer, with transfer negotiations dragging on longer than expected.

BVB have been negotiating with Ajax for Edson Alvarez, but the deal has broken down.

They were also in talks with Real Valladolid to sign right-back Ivan Fresneda, but the deal continues to hang in the balance.

Arribas has already showcased his attacking prowess, bagging 40 goals and 15 assists in 92 appearances for Madrid’s reserve team.

He has made 14 appearances for the senior team, scoring once in the Club World Cup.

Dortmund has a history of loan spells with Madrid players.

Achraf Hakimi spent two fruitful years with the German club between 2018 and 2020. He emerged as a top-quality right-back during his time there.

However, Reinier Jesus’ case was the opposite when he joined Dortmund on loan from 2020 to 2022.

The Brazilian’s stint at Dortmund was underwhelming, leading many people to label the transfer as a flop.

It is unclear whether Dortmund can finalise the deal amidst their ongoing transfer struggles.

The competition from Eintracht and other interested parties adds further uncertainty to the outcome of this potential loan move.
