Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign OGC Nice’s highly-rated midfielder Khephren Thuram, according to Foot Mercato.
The German champions are still in the market for a midfielder to partner Joshua Kimmich, and the Frenchman is the latest name on their shortlist.
Thuram has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Nice following an underwhelming campaign where the club finished ninth in the Ligue 1 rankings.
There is no shortage of potential suitors lining up a move for the newly-capped France international, with Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Liverpool all linked with the midfielder.
Liverpool are understood to be the most interested in Thuram, with Jurgen Klopp planning a midfield revamp, but the Reds have yet to open talks to sign the Frenchman.
Bayern are now looking to steal a march on other interested parties at the behest of manager Thomas Tuchel who is keen on working with the youngster at the Allianz Arena.
Thuram was a prominent part of the Le Gym squad last season, scoring twice and providing four assists. He also created an impressive nine big chances, completed 66% of his attempted dribbles and won half of his total duels.
The 22-year-old was a stand-out performer for Nice last season, but he may have played his last game for the French side with several European giants on his tail.
Bayern have several midfield players on their roster, but they are planning a clear-out with Tuchel keen to imprint his identity on the team following last season’s Bundesliga scare.
Ryan Gravenberch could leave the club after struggling to break into Bayern’s first team since arriving from Ajax last summer.
Marcel Sabitzer has returned from his loan spell at Manchester United, but the Austrian midfielder is not in Tuchel’s long-term plans and is expected to depart the club this summer.
Bayern will open talks to sign Thuram, but they will be required to fork out at least €50 million to sign the impressive midfielder.
The Rekordmeister are also focusing on plans to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.
