AC Milan and Lyon table bids for Chelsea attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic

Lyon and AC Milan have both tabled bids for Chelsea attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic, reports The Athletic.

The Blues have sold Kalidou Koulibaly, Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Kai Havertz and Pulisic could be next to leave.

Chelsea are aiming to balance the books during the ongoing Premier League transfer window to ensure they comply with Financial Fair Play rules.

Milan have offered £12 million for Pulisic, while Lyon are ready to pay £21.5m and include a sell-on clause in the deal.

The 24-year-old joined the Stamford Bridge club from Borussia Dortmund in 2019 and has scored 26 goals in 145 appearances.

However, he bagged just one goal in 30 games across all competitions last term, starting just six Premier League matches.

Pulisic has just 12 months left on his deal, and recouping part of the £58m they paid to secure his services is good for business.

The most expensive American player failed to live up to the hype at Chelsea and will hope to impress at his next club.

Milan want him to support French striker Olivier Giroud and already have an agreement in place with him.

However, they will need to outbid Lyon to have a chance of getting Chelsea to do business with them.

The Blues sold Ruben Loftus-Cheek to the Serie A club and both clubs have forged a good relationship in recent years.

Chelsea also have a very good relationship with Lyon after recruiting Malo Gusto from the Ligue 1 club in January.

They have already snapped up French attacker Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, and several other deals are in the pipeline.
