AS Roma considering move for PSG midfielder Renato Sanches

AS Roma are exploring the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Renato Sanches, according to Sky Sport Italia.

However, they are yet to initiate talks with PSG, although the player is open to a move.

Sanches was signed by the Ligue 1 giants after a transfer battle with AC Milan last summer.

The Portuguese midfielder reunited with Christophe Galtier and Luis Campos at Parc des Princes, having previously worked with them at LOSC Lille.

However, the 25-year-old was hit and miss last season, making only six starts in 23 Ligue 1 appearances while suffering frequent injury problems.

Although the former Bayern Munich star has the trust of Campos, it remains to be seen whether he will be in the plans of prospective new head coach Luis Enrique.

Roma have shortlisted Sanches as one of the alternatives for their top target Davide Frattesi.

Inter are understandably in pole position to land the Sassuolo midfielder, but the recent breakdown in talks between Marcelo Brozovic and Al-Nassr may have opened the door for Roma.

Roma have followed Sanches in previous transfer windows, with general manager Tiago Pinto and head coach Jose Mourinho admirers of him.

The capital giants have completed two free transfers of Evan Ndicka and Houssem Aouar this summer while selling Carles Perez to Celta Vigo on a permanent deal.

West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca remains a top target, with the Italian striker prioritising a move to Roma.
