Napoli target Takefusa Kubo rejects lucrative Saudi offer

Real Sociedad’s mercurial forward Takefusa Kubo has reportedly turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi giants Al-Hilal.

As reported by Diario AS, Al-Hilal made an audacious offer worth €160 million on a four-year contract to the Japanese youngster.

The Riyadh-based outfit, who recently acquired Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly, were also willing to meet Kubo’s €60m release clause but were rejected by the player.

It could prove to be a considerable boost to Serie A giants Napoli, who are keeping tabs on Kubo ahead of a potential summer move.

The reigning Italian champions have identified the 22-year-old as a replacement for Hirving Lozano, who has been tipped to leave.

Kubo has found his feet at La Real after permanently sealing a move from Real Madrid last summer.

He was a revelation racking up nine goals and seven assists in La Liga to help Sociedad qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Despite mounting interest from top clubs, Kubo has no intention of leaving as he aims to continue his upward trajectory with La Real.

Kubo was tipped to reach bigger heights during his youth days at Barcelona and then after joining arch-rivals Real Madrid.

However, things did not go to plan, with his progress curtailed due to a lack of chances in Madrid’s first team, which saw him spend loan spells at various clubs.

Kubo has breathed new life into his career at La Real and wants it to be the starting point to climb up the ladder.
