Leicester City are targeting a move for Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Foxes reportedly want the youngster on a loan deal. He spent part of last season on loan with Reading in the Championship.
He showed some glimpses of his talent, but the Royals ultimately suffered relegation to League One.
Despite never playing a Serie A game, the 20-year-old joined the Blues from Inter Milan for around £12 million last summer.
Casadei joined Chelsea’s reserves and made an impression with his long-range shots and ability to arrive in the box at the right time.
He spent six months at Cobham before moving to the second tier for six months.
However, it was at the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina this summer that the Ravenna-born midfielder came to prominence.
Casadei captained Italy’s Under-20 side to the final, where they lost to Uruguay. He received the Best Player award for his performances at the tournament.
He also won the top scorer award after netting seven times. He displayed his eye for goal and put himself on the map.
New Leicester manager Enzo Maresca is pushing to sign the player.
The Foxes suffered relegation last season and have already lost midfield maestro James Maddison to Tottenham Hotspur.
However, they are close to signing Harry Winks from Spurs.
Casadei would be another fantastic addition to the club as they look to climb back into the top flight.
The Chelsea starlet is a talented box-to-box midfielder with a keen eye for the goal who could help Leicester’s promotion bid.
Chelsea have not earmarked any plans for the player. Incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino will want to examine him before deciding what to do.
Another loan to the Championship under a manager who gives him time on the pitch would help his development.
