Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is on the verge of completing a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Al-Nassr aren keen on the Croatian midfielder and had already reached an agreement on the transfer fee with Inter, but Brozovic was stalling on the move.
Brozovic was holding out for a significant increase in his salary package – a demand that has now been accepted by Al-Nassr, who are looking to wrap up the deal.
Al-Nassr will pay Inter €23 million while Brozovic will sign a three-year deal worth €100m, which includes wages and a signing fee.
Barcelona were understood to be leading the race to sign Brozovic, but the club’s finances hampered their desire to lure the experienced midfielder to the Spotify Camp Nou.
The Croatia international has been a key player for Inter since linking up with the first team in 2016 and has racked up 330 appearances in a Nerazzurri shirt while contributing 31 goals and 43 assists.
He remained a prominent squad member last season, helping Simeone Inzaghi’s side retain their Coppa Italia crown and reach the Champions League final.
Having been a loyal servant to the Nerazzurri over the last seven years, Brozovic will begin a new chapter in his career at Al-Nassr, where he will link up with superstar striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
Brozovic is the latest high-profile player to leave Inter this summer, with the cash-strapped Italian giants needing money from sales before they can pursue their targets.
Inter are expected to use the proceeds from Brozovic’s departure to fund a move for top midfield target Davide Frattesi.
The Sassuolo midfielder is one of the most wanted players in the Serie A this summer, and Inter are in the mix for his signature.
However, they must move fast to secure the highly sought-after Italy international, with Serie A rivals AC Milan and Juventus also interested.
