Highly sought-after Fenerbahce prodigy Arda Guler has reportedly chosen his next destination amidst interest from several European top clubs.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the 18-year-old wonderkid, who is poised to leave the Super Lig runners-up this summer, favours a move to La Liga giants Sevilla.
However, the Europa League champions are struggling to match the youngster’s €17.5 million release clause, which could throw a spanner in their plans to snap him up.
Guler is widely regarded as the next big thing in world football, having enjoyed a breakout campaign with Fenerbahce last season, notching four goals and four assists in 20 league games.
The young sensation has attracted interest from several European heavyweights, including La Liga champions Barcelona and Serie A giants AC Milan.
Real Madrid are the latest club to join the hunt for the highly-rated youngster, with the Spanish heavyweights looking to bolster their strong youth contingent.
However, Los Blancos are planning to send Guler to their reserve team rather than the first team, which has left the youngster reluctant to move to the Spanish capital.
Sevilla were the first club to register interest in Guler, and the player is reportedly keen on making the move with Los Nervionenses able to guarantee regular playing time.
Guler has made it clear to Fenerbahce that he will not continue in Istanbul beyond this summer. However, Sevilla cannot trigger his release clause without first selling some high-profile players.
Lucas Ocampos is already attracting interest from the Premier League, with Fulham reportedly lining up a bid for the former Olympique Marseille man.
However, the Cottagers cannot offer him Champions League football, so it remains to be seen if the Argentina international will trade Sevilla for a mid-table English club.
Guler is not short on potential suitors, but his preference has put Sevilla in pole position for his signature.
However, their hands remain tied due to the club’s financial situation unless they sacrifice some top players this summer.
